figures

ok so scalextric figures,
now unless your prepared to pay out for like carrera figures or specialist archetect figures most of the ones that are available second hand are going to be styled from the fifties or sixties, which is great if your set up is based around this time but most of my cars are modern f1 or ralleyes,
so as much as i can try to modern them up a bit with brighter colours, but some there is not much you can do like the photographers, there holding the old box brownie cameras so just have to live with them,
so any way won a great deal on e bay with some figures and some pics of me repainting them,

Ok so what i have done is to paint them so they look like they are wearing pin stripe coverals with hi vis vests,an i dont think they look to bad,

So what i have tried to do is a pit crew with red overals with blue stripe and a crew with blue overals with red stripe.

next is thease two little guys at first was not quite sure what they were supposed to be doing but painted them yellow with blue stripes,

next to a car they look like there pushing it or something but then thought they would look good next to the
break down truck,

Next thing is you end up with a lot of figures the same like this lady,
She is holding up some sort of book or document so if you put her near a big lorry or other officials she looks like she needs something sighned, but you cant have her any where on her own, so with a bit of ampitation and surgery,

with no book and her arm down makes her a bit more versatile, which is good cause i have at least six of her,
next few pics are just scenery ideas,

The saftey fences are from table top set up so they will be cut about an reshaped,
next is few pics of the pits and haipin end.

Hmmm just not too sure about this end of track although there is lots going on with the pits good year canopys the burger bar an grandstand, i dont know just compared to rest of track just looks a bit to
"TOY,ISH" i think i will get rid of the green felt, build up a bit of plaster landscape behind canopys an where picnic table is next to burger bar  and use green sawdust instead of cloth,
next im waiting for the copper tape to arrive will then clean rails and apply and will hopefully be able to race,
will then post pics of all my cars with there lap times,

track painting

So all the dyed sawdust now complete quite pleased with finished result too, next step was to paint the track grey
had no idea what paint to use so mixed up a bit of emolsion with pva an hope it sticks, if it marks an scratches not too worried just dont want it to peel off or flake an crack, so will just have to wait an see,
so here is few pics of first coat will apply second coat tommorow,

made some advertising boards to go along left hand side and far back edge they did not come out too bad,

did a little re modelling to my marshall hut, well basicaly cut it in half,
all ways thought i had made this just bit too wide, was ok on table top layouts but not in loft, just allways looked to big,

Hmmm not too sure. definatly got it right size now, but think will strip off paper an re paint it,
got a real bargain on e bay with vintage scalextric figures the end time was 10 o clock sunday morning so i was the only bidder got 12 figures for only £1.99 well pleased, painted yellow hi vis jackets on some of my other little figures came out quite well, will put pics on later as  camera battery just run out typical,,,

grass

Ok so the dyed sawdust seamed to work really well, what i have done to apply it to the areas where i want it is to cover with glue then pour the sawdust over it an then pat it down and left for couple of days,

so the next step after a couple of days was to just gently brush off and hope fully exspose the areas underneath that were not glued,

Ok not too bad came out a bit thin in some areas so i just applied some more glue and then another layer
of the sawdust, as i do want it quite thick so when cars crash if wont knock lumps off of it,
last couple of pics are just a few scenery ideas ,

just playing about nothing permanent,so next step after a few more days for grass to dry, will be i think the track to paint concrete grey colour, will then clean slot rails as best i can and then the copper tape this will definatley have to be done as the track is now in such bad condition where i have been sitting or kneeling on it an plus it gets wet an dirty that the connections are so bad that cars wont even make a full lap,
but im confident a good clean up and the copper tape will solve this problem,
