Scalextric scenery progress

Ok so after the set back of track not working have replaced track and repainted,

And also replasterd an repainted bits of scenery that was damaged

I wanted gravel for my scenery   used to use just gravel off my drive for table top set ups but was always just to big, and from hobby shop was so expensive for just tiny bag then found this in pet shop fish tank gravel was just £3.99 for a 4kg bag and its the perfect scale and colour, so have placed it around break down truck and in front of safety fence .

Realy pleased with gravel and it goes a long   way too,
Ok so next part was centre loop to do,

So first glued in saftey fences, and applied dyed sawdust,

I then placed in the two grandstands an a few peaple standing around an bit of gravel in front of saftey fences and couple of trees,

                                   Pretty pleased so far,

Still lots more to do but getting there.

the copper tape

Ok so after painting the track i cleaned up the rails so so, and cars were not that good at going round the electric connection was not that good, so i thought the copper tape would fix this problem so after buying an waiting for it to arrive, i set about very carefully applying it to the rails took nearly two hours, but couldnt wait to finaly get to play with cars especialy new ones,( a fly porsche, ferrari f40 gronholm ford focus and ford escort, will put pics of all my cars up at later date) but i digres,
BUT IT DID NOT WORK ARRRGH,
there was no connection whatsoever nothing worked, and seeing as my electrical knoledge goes no further than changing a plug an lightbulb i had no idea what was going on,
and to make matters worse it was tempramental one minute bit would work then next it wouldnt,
so basicaly i spent a week playing and fiddling with track to no avail,
then my nephew had a look and brought some tester thing and found some bits of track were just no good after being  knelt and lent on while doing scenery they just got bent out of shape and he also reckoned the copper tape was doing more harm than good as the glue was insullating it from the track, so we peeled it all off cleaned up rails and connections pulled up and replaced track that was no good,

Ok so quite abit of track has been replaced, and some of the scenery was damaged when taking it up but not nearly as bad as i thought  it was going to be, there is still a couple of bits to replace the hairpin end and bit on over pass but watching these bits of track on ebay so not to much of a drama,
so i am at a bit of a backwards step in my progress but at least track  is working fine and cars are working no point in having a great looking track if it dont work,
so plan is to repair broken scenery repaint very carefully new bits of track, and that should get me back to where i was, and then can carry on as there is still lots more to do,

Trees

picked thease up in the hobby shop £10.50 for 12 trees and then a pack of green flock type stuff for couple of quid, tried few different things for trees during my table top set ups even cutting off some pine branches and they did look good but obviously do  die too, but buying ready made trees were exspensive and they either looked fantastic or like painted bog brushes, so came across thease and although takes a bit of time to make them, they do look realy good and out of a pack of 12 there are 3 different sizes,
so here is what they looked like ,

They come out the packet flat so bit of bending and twisting to get them into a 3d shape.

And then glue on the green flock stuff,

I have eight more to make, and once placed round the layout reckon they will look realy good.

dunlop tower

the dunlop tower an crossover bridge i made just could not find any where to put it that did not obstruct to much of track view,
so very reluctantly had to rethink what i was going to do with it, so came up with this idea,

So bit of sawing an chopping,

I ended up with this, so with bit of painting,

and change the colour theme from dunlop to champion,
and have to say pretty pleased, and then in place on the track,

Next was a canopy for the little picnic table and chairs,

Its a little too high so just needs shortening a bit,
