ok so a bit more paper stodge gunge work done over next last few days...............

Took quite a while but think now all stodge work done an very pleased with result just got to wait for it to
dry out,and think thats going to take quite a while as its quite cold in the loft at moment, but have plenty of other bits to be getting on with inthe mean time,
picked up this plastic grandtand from hobby shop as it was last of his scalextric stock he let me have it half price,       the scale is bit out as the scalextric figures did not fit quite right but little cutting about an they look great.

final layout

Hi all
so after a few races track did throw up a few problems well not really problems but just areas not quite happy with the pit building an pit lane as in wrong place as it obstructed cars going rond the back through tunnel,
So i moved it over to the left side were seems to be fine and little adjustment to table to fit in pit lane as well.
So the final layout that im now certain is what i like an will work well is as follows..

So at this point happy with track layout all runs well no dead spots, so this will now be permanent.
next thing now is to start on scenery, will start right at back wall first,
ok so what i have done here is glued some green felt to wall and edge of track an cut a christmas tree to make lots of little trees and being right at the back of layout an grouped together they dont look to bad,

next step is to start doing a bit of infill under track in the far left corner i have filled with broken
polystyrene and was going to use this all over cut with knifr an glue into place,
but the mess was amazing and i couldnt work with it ,
and this is my plan old magazines through the paper shredder mixed with water and wall paiste and then some sqishy mish with my mits, an wer,e ready to roll, and it worked fantastic  realy pleased easy to shape will use this all over as its so easy,

really pleased with my paper stodgy gunge so easy to work with and mold an shape, now some areas will make look like grass banks and some areas will be rocks still a lot of other aeas to do an reckon it will take best part of a week before it dries right out enough for me to paint, very pleased with progress so far,

track

ok so table top is mostly finished probably few adjustments as time goes on , but is now ready for track layout,
Althoughi have quite a bit of room i do want to make it very scenic, so therfore wont go crazy with loads of track,
Have supported the two cross over points with mdf an blocks,
So after lots of playing about an swopping an changing, ended up with this layout, but before i make anything permanent will try an live with it for few weeks to see if   any problems arise,

Had a slow spot where cars almost came to a stop so two wires to jump power and seems to have solved it.

Elevated the track furthest away or nearest to back wall

this is 3 pics squashed into one to try an get it all in, bit of playing about to see where some buildings  might go, im happy that i got to the stage where i can actualy play with it now so will do a few race nights with my mates to see if the layout will work before i start on any permant features. will also now start to make rest of loft bit more presentable carpet on floor an few other bits an pieces,

the loft

Hi all. so heres a little update on the progress of the loft space,
now i was going to use siver bubble on roof joist but decided against it for two reasons 1 will be too hot in summer months and 2 at £20.a roll thought better of it so in the end just used linning paper,

once its all coverd wont look too bad and should stop light casting shadows,
also got some timber to start the table frame work.

tents

I really liked the idea of this marque or garden tent so i set about trying to make one and found a download,
and ended up with this, pic is from a recent table top layout i did for a lads race night, as im still not set up in loft just yet, not easy to see from this pic but is basicaly wooden frame over a paper roof but overall effect is good with picnic table an chairs,

pit garage

ok here we have a pit garage made out of hard wood,
sorry no pics of in between stages only finished result, which also now has little battery operated lights in each garage area which looks pretty cool.

Im pretty pleased with result and next to pit lane track from e bay for few pounds, really sets off the effect your looking for,
ok next up is a dunlop control tower and cross over found this on ebay,
now the start price on this was a £150,
so i set about trying to make my own and this is what i ended up with,

Not a bad result. and the little blue lights are cool in the dark,

Here we have a track side  marshal or time keeping hut,
and then my attempt,

Ok not too bad pretty pleased with it the textured paper is just from google images the printed out to scale
and then glued on,
all the little figures and cars are all bought from boot sales or e bay dont think i have any thing bought brand new,
The thing to remember about bidding on ebay is prime time, especialy if you want bargains, remember some people make a living by selling things on e bay, so if you want bargains avoid the prime time, which as far as i worked out is tuesday to thursday from 6pm to 9pm, sellers try to aim for there articles to be ending within thease times as most people are on line between thease hours,
I have won scalextric cars on a monday afternoon for 99p, cause no one is shopping at thease times,
also very late at night past midnight you can pick up some real bargains.
And the whole point of this blog is for a set up as cheaply as i can,,,,so stay tuned.......
